The Campus of Excellence is a unique and pioneering initiative in the world which, although comes from the academic environment, extends into the economic, social and cultural realms, due to the content and activities established in its scientific schedule and cultural agenda.

Indelibly, culture in its different expressions has always coexisted with the activities of the Campus of Excellence. Opera is undoubtedly one of the art forms with the greatest impact on society, because to the complex training it requires and the brilliance of the results.

Campus Opera, which will take place for the first time as a satellite event of the Campus of Excellence, has been conceived with the purpose of:

• To enable 20 young singers, with an international vocation, to receive teaching, advice and guidance from some of the world’s most important operatic experts.
• To provide them with opportunities to share and to gain knowledge by meeting, cohabiting and working with the teachers and their fellow singers.
• To make this annual event, linked to the Campus, an international reference for perfection for young people seeking to carve out a career in the difficult profession that is opera.
• Establishing the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the permanent centre for an event which aims to consolidate its position as an international cultural point of reference.
